Romantic Comedy books hold a special place in my heart. My love of romantic literature shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point. But when I find myself in need of a good laugh, it’s a romantic comedy book I reach for. So, I’ve made a handly list to help you find some amazing reads that are sure to have you giggling your way through fall.

When people find out how much I read, one reaction I receive is ‘books are too expensive.’ I’m not going to lie, they can be. The best thing I’ve done for my wallet is switch to e-books. I know what you’re thinking, e-readers aren’t cheap either. While I have a Kindle and love it, I’m not recommending you get one for yourself.

8 Must Read Romantic Comedy Books

Romantic Comedy Books to Read this Fall

Fall just happens to be my favorite time of the year, it’s dreary and gloomy. The leaves are falling off the trees, and flowers are withering away. Ahh, the joy! What I really mean, is I can stop obsessively slathering myself with sunblock every 40 minutes, I no longer have to explain that camping and fishing are not my idea of a good time and in a few short weeks, I won’t have to weed my garden again. See, joy!

Now, if you’re not like me and think of fall as back to school and the death of nature, you might not find yourself as enthusiastic about its return as I am. The days are getting shorter, the weather is about to take a turn for the worse. i totally get why people wouldn’t love fall. This list is for you!

One of my favorite things to do when I’m feeling down is to read a book that makes me laugh. So I’ve made a list of some of the romantic comedies I’ve read over the past few months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Four Day Fling by Emma Hart

Four day fling by emma hartI giggled my way through this book imagining myself in the same situations Poppy found herself in. I also found myself wishing I accident dated hockey players! Unfortunately, I’m thinking that only happens in books.

Imagine this. You’re ready to leave after a one-night stand, and you’re figuring out how to—shock horror—leave your number and ask him to be your fake boyfriend for your sister’s wedding this weekend. When he wakes up. Well, that happened to me. And over coffee and omelets, I found myself a date.

Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about. I didn’t know his last name, or how we met, or how long we’d been dating. I didn’t know where he grew up, what he’d majored in in college, or how many siblings he had. I sure as hell didn’t know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player—and not only my father’s favorite player, but my little nephew’s freakin’ idol. Which means I’m in trouble. Big, big trouble. My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who’ll listen about his time in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. Four days. I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don’t have sex whenever we’re alone and my family aren’t interrogating him over his intentions with me.

At least, that’s the plan. And we all know what happens to those.

Neighbor Dearest by Penelope Ward

Neighbor Dearest by Penelope Ward. Haven’t we all been dumped a time or a dozen? Break ups suck, they make a person doubt themselves, question their worth. Counselling is a perfectly normal response to help deal with the emotional repercussions of a break up. Imagine finding out your attractive neighbor was able to hear every counselling secession through your wall!

After getting dumped, the last thing I needed was to move next door to someone who reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, Elec. Damien was a hotter version of my ex. The neighbor I’d dubbed “Angry Artist” also had two massive dogs that kept me up with their barking. He wanted nothing to do with me. Or so I thought until one night I heard laughter coming through an apparent hole in my bedroom wall. Damien had been listening to all of my phone sessions with my therapist. The sexy artist next door now knew all of my deepest secrets and insecurities. We got to talking. He set me straight with tips to get over my breakup. He became a good friend, but Damien made it clear that he couldn’t be anything more. Problem was, I was falling hard for him anyway. And as much as he pushed me away, I knew he felt the same…because his heartbeat didn’t lie. I thought my heart had been broken by Elec, but it was alive and beating harder than ever for Damien. I just hoped he wouldn’t shatter it for good. Author’s note – Neighbor Dearest is a full-length standalone novel.

The Varlet and the Voyeur by L. H. Cosway and Penny Reid

The Varlet and the Voyeur by L. H. Cosway and Penny Reid

This clever writing duo will have you giggle snorting through the pages. With awkward interactions and embarrassing secrets you’re sure to cherish every word this book has to offer.

He kept his salacious secret for years. But soon, everyone is going to be reading about it in their morning paper…

THE VARLET (and the VOYEUR)
William Moore is a long way from home. A farm boy from Oklahoma, he’s now the most well-respected member of the Irish rugby team. But appearances are often deceptive, and Will isn’t the clean-cut, all-American good-guy everyone imagines him to be. He’s got a secret, one that will tarnish his reputation forever.

THE VOYEUR (and the VARLET)
Josey Kavanagh is a self-proclaimed mess, but she’s finally getting her shi… uh, act together. She’s set her sights on becoming a veterinarian, but there’s one teeny tiny road bump. Her living arrangements are coming to an abrupt end, leaving Josey homeless and in need of a job to pay her way through college.

THE PLAN
What he needs is a companion to keep him on the right path.
What she needs is an apartment with free rent.
Will is convinced Josey will make the perfect companion, since she’s brutally honest and basically ‘just one of the guys.’ Josey is convinced she can ensure Will doesn’t succumb to his voyeuristic proclivities by keeping a scrupulous eye on him.
Except, what happens when the varlet is tempted by the voyeur, and vice-versa?!
Perchance something very, very volatile. And vexing.

Stuck-Up Suit by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Stuck-Up Suit by Vi Keeland and Penelope WardRandom meetings are my favorite!

It started out like any other morning on the train.
Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.
He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.
Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?
Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.
When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left. So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.
I might have picked it up.
I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.
I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days―until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.
When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.
So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.
I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.
I didn’t expect him to text back.
I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.
I didn’t expect to fall for him―all before we even met.
The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.
Yet, you know what they say about opposites.
When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract―we consumed each other.
Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

F*cking Shattered by K. B Andrews

F*cking Shattered by K. B. AndrewsTry to ignore the sad as heck summary. This book had me sad crying for the first three chapters, then it had me laughing so hard I was crying. From hilariously ridiculous situations to a twist I didn’t see coming, this romantic comedy has it all.

I’ve always been the shy, quiet one.
My best friend, the fun loving, outgoing one.
When she’s gone, taken away entirely way too soon,
I have to learn how to live.

And not just for me, but for her too.

I have to live for the both of us.

That means doing things I’d never do, stepping out of the shadows
to join the rest of the world- taking chances, falling in love,
and getting into a little trouble along the way.

Losing my best friend broke me.

And when a person breaks,
They f*cking shatter.

Love Hacked by Penny Reid

Love Hacked by Penny ReidThis book had me laughing and thinking maybe my bad dates weren’t so bad after all. Poor Sandra has some of the worst dates I’ve ever heard. Through witty wordsmithing and amusing situations, there’s no way you won’t enjoy this one.

There are three things you need to know about Sandra Fielding: 1) She makes all her first dates cry, 2) She hasn’t been kissed in over two years, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Sandra has difficulty removing her psychotherapist hat. Of her last 30 dates, 29 have ended the same way: the man sobbing uncontrollably. After one such disaster, Sandra–near desperation and maybe a little tipsy–gives in to a seemingly harmless encounter with her hot waiter, Alex. Argumentative, secretive, and hostile Alex may be the opposite of everything Sandra knows is right for her. But now, the girl who has spent all her life helping others change for the better, must find a way to cope with falling for someone who refuses to change at all.

Sex, Not Love by Vi Keeland

Sex, not Love by Vi KeelandThis romantic comedy was a real treat. You have a young lady with no interest in a relationship and a man who is very interested in her. This book will have you grinning from ear to ear.

My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards.

We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction.

I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me.

We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number.

I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby. Our attraction hadn’t dulled one bit. After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time. So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home.

I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner. The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city. He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems.

Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose?

Nothing, I thought.
It’s just sex, not love.
But you know what they say about the best laid plans…
