The Best Books of 2019 (so far)
We’ve passed the half way point for the year which means this is a great time to take a look at the books I’ve read over the past few months and highlight the ones that have made an impression. Overall, 2019 has been a great reading year.
I deleted my to-read list, stopped planning/ scheduling reviews, stopped taking review requests and started reading whatever I felt drawn to at the moment. It’s been liberating, I’ve started reading books in genres I never would have considered a few months ago and stopped worrying about writing long, detailed reviews.
What is the best book of 2019?
Does anyone else feel like they’re asked that question daily?
“What is the best book you’ve read so far this year?” What is the best book of 2019? It sounds like an innocent question, idle conversation, meaningless chit chat. No one actually expects much of an answer, perhaps a title or two at the most. But, when you ask a bookish person this question, you’d better be prepared for a very long answer.
People don’t seem to understand, it’s not that easy to pick a single title. Just one book out of the hundred or so I’ve read this year! Who can pick just one ‘best book’? They’re all amazing in their own unique ways. I can pick the best book to accompany most moods, weather conditions and wine selections … but to pick one single overall favorite? Impossible!
So, I’ve tried to narrow it down and come up with a list of books I’d recommend. Books I’ve enjoyed, books that have made a lasting impression or left me feeling something.
Of course I plan to update this list as the year continues but if you’re looking for something new to read right now, you really can’t do better than the best books of 2019 (so far).

On The Come Up was spectacular !
Whispering Stories
I’ve had On the Come Up since before it was released to the public as I got an arc and I struggled so much I gave up about 7/8 chapters in. I really need to try it again as I love her first book.
