15 Free Date Ideas

Why we could all benefit from a free date

Times are tough, money doesn’t grow on trees… I remember hearing those things from my parents multiple times as I was growing up. It was one of those things that didn’t make a lot of sense to me – can’t you just get more money? Anyway, as a relatively well-adjusted adult, those sayings make a bit more sense.

But a lack of funds doesn’t mean you should stop doing things, such as dates, with your significant other. Money is the reason for many marital breakdowns and I would hazard a guess that it’s due in part to not knowing how to have fun without spending money.

Without further ado, here are the free date ideas

So, to help you keep those relationships healthy, I’ve made a list of free date ideas. Try them out, and let me know how they go, or give me your own ideas to add to the list.

Go to the park – push each other on the swings, go down the slide, swing your way across the monkey bars. Remember simpler times the two of you can laugh and have fun with each other.

Plan a Game Night – I’m sure everyone has a stack of board games hiding in the depths of a closet somewhere in the house. Pull those games out and have fun for an evening. Bonus points if you make it sexy. Perhaps, the loser can surrender a piece of clothing…

Go to a museum or art gallery – Most museums or galleries will have a free night once a month. Go together, enjoy the culture and soak up the information. Sometimes there will even be free art classes or demonstrations.

Volunteer Together – What better way to strengthen a relationship than through shared experiences and the bond of knowing you’re making a difference

Go to Open Houses – Whether this is for homes in your neighborhood or homes you could never dream of being able to purchases this is an awesome way to spend an afternoon. As a bonus you’ll also get neat decorating ideas you can use in your own place.

Backyard Camping – I enjoy the great outdoors. But actual camping in a tent in the middle of the wilderness doesn’t appeal to me due to my preference for indoor plumbing. Setting up a tent in the backyard, give you the same feel of sleeping on the ground outside without having to give up the creature comforts we appreciate.

Play Twister – This can be a naughty or nice as you want to make it. There’s something super fun about a game that encourages you to fold yourself like a pretzel around someone else. Just think of the fun that can be had on the board, let the loser take off a piece of clothing and it’s bound to lead to a good night.

Go for a Walk around New Neighbourhoods – Walking is a great way to familiarize yourself with your neighborhood and those around you. Hold hands, talk, laugh, stop and look at things that interest you.

Poker Night – I keep talking about sexy stakes for games, and what could be more fun than strip poker. Make sure you’re wearing a lot of layers or don’t, either way, you’ll both win.

Truth or Dare/ Never Have I Ever – Have some fun and get to know each other a little better. This is a great chance to voice those secret fantasies.

Have an Embarrassing Photo Shoot – No one but the two of you ever needs to see the pictures. So have fun, use interesting props. Don’t worry about filters or hair and makeup, it’s just the two of you being yourselves.

Play Video Games – I’ll be honest, I suck at video games, but occasionally it’s fun to kick back and enjoy them. As long as my hubby remembers I’m always trying my best.

Massages – Who doesn’t enjoy a good massage? All that touching, the warm oil sliding your hands all over your partner’s body… The best part, it’s bound to lead to more fun. Not only will you be relaxed but you’ll also be satisfied.

Go to the library – Reading is a fun and relaxing pastime. Bonus points if the two of you get the same book so you can talk about it as you go.

Not sure what to read? There are some amazing recommendations right here.

Go roller-skating – Back when I was a teenager roller skating was a weekend necessity. It was quicker than walking and less bulky than a bike, plus it was a fun way to spend time with friends away from the watchful eyes of the parents. Hold hands and have fun.

So, take some time with your special someone next weekend and have fun. I would love to hear how it goes. Do you have any other ideas for free dates?

I’ve recently created a Pinterest, so follow me and see all the wonderful things I’m pinning.

As always,
