I happen to love military romance novels. Accidentally happening upon MM Military romance novels was quite a happy coincidence. This has quickly become one of my favorite sub-genres to read.

There is something so appealing about men in the military. The appeal might have something to do with the uniform. Or perhaps,it’s their physical strength, their bravery, the calmness all military personnel seem to embrace. Whatever it is, I like it and I know I’m not the only one.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a glaring lack of books about this topic. I would know, I’ve searched high and low to find the ones I put on this list. Luckily many of the books here are parts of a series so the list can quickly become a lot longer than it looks.

The criteria for this list:

  • MM Romance novels featuring at least one main character actively in the military – not police or private security
  • The story should not be centered around PTSD or transitioning to civilian life
  • Should have a good bit of tension, action, and suspense
  • It should be a contemporary romance story. No historical stories about WWII or paranormal stories about shifters and zombies

This wonderful book tells us the story of two young men going through BUD/s training required to be Navy Seals. On top of an amazing romance that has stayed with me for weeks since I originally read the book, I fell in love with two of the most realistically flawed heroes I’ve had the pleasure of encountering.

Through this book, I learned a whole lot about what the men and women who serve their country have to go through even before they’re deployed. I thought the in-depth depictions of their training added.

View Synopsis

BUD/S: six months of the most intense training there is. It’s survival of the toughest, and Matt Knytych is determined to come out the other side a navy SEAL.

Distraction is life or death. And just the sight of former marine Shane Hovland is enough to shake Matt’s concentration.

Shane came to BUD/S training ready to prove himself—again. Semper Fi is forever, but he needs a new start. Not this dangerous heat with a man he barely knows.

Everything they’ve ever wanted is riding on a thin, punishing line. And they’ll have to fight for more than just each other if they want to make it through intact.

After all, the only easy day was yesterday.

The Anchor Point stories can be read in any order – jump in wherever you’d like
Captain Mark Thomas’s world has been tossed on its head: A long overdue but still unexpected divorce. A promotion out of left field. Last-second orders to a ship where careers go to die. As the dust settles in his new home, he barely recognizes his life, but he sure recognizes the loneliness creeping in.

Diego Ramírez wants nothing to do with the military or its men. Not after the Navy burned him both literally and figuratively, costing him his career, his health, and ultimately his green card. Now working illegally in an Anchor Point bar, he keeps the military and its personnel at arm’s length.

But after a single moment of eye contact across the bar, Mark and Diego can’t resist each other. As a one-night stand quickly turns into more, Diego knows he’s playing with fire. Now he can stick around and let things with Mark inevitably fall apart, or he can run like hell and wonder what might have been. One way or another, Diego knows he’s about to get burned. Again.

You are in for a real treat with this one. Not only do we get to book date a smoking hot Marine but we also get a taste of the friends to lovers trope we all enjoy so much. This is a cute, low angst and sweet story that will leave you with a smile on your face.

Let’s not ignore this cover. Who doesn’t want to book-date that guy for a couple of days?

Through this book, I learned a whole lot about what the men and women who serve their country have to go through even before they’re deployed. I thought the in-depth depictions of their training added.

Jake Hansen has been crushing on Gabe Byrne for half his life, but since Gabe is a straight, self-proclaimed commitment-phobe who moved away years ago to join the Marines, that crush is strictly a fantasy-best-enjoyed-in-private. And even when Gabe starts to flirt with him like crazy, Jake still knows better than to think it means anything.

Because falling in love with your straight bestie? Not just a cliche, but a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

…right?

Growing up, Gabe never saw “Little Jakey” as anything more than the kid who always liked to tag along after him and his brothers, but somehow, being friends with Jake has become the best part of his day. And after a seven-month deployment? Seeing Jake is the one thing he’s looking forward to the most.

He just didn’t expect that hanging out in person again would be so confusing… or keep blurring the lines about how straight he is… or keep making him want things that he never thought he would.

Things that seem a lot like forever.

Rough Terrain

Ms. Albert has written an entire series (seven books) of stand-alone MM Military Romances. If pressed I might admit to reading all 7 of them within a couple weeks. The entire series is incredible and best of all they don’t get repetitive which is always a concern with a lengthy series. By the way, the steamy bits were awesome!

This book introduces us to the well-endowed Renzo and Canaan who works at a smoothie shop. Now, I have to ask because this is the third book I’ve read in recent weeks featuring a gay man working in a smoothie shop – what am I missing? Is there a stereotype I don’t know about? Anyway, this was a super fun book that’s part of a super fun series.

View Synopsis

The camping trip from hell may be the first stop on the road to happily ever after.

Navy SEAL Renzo Bianchi has a soft spot for Canaan Finley, and not only because the man makes a mean smoothie. He’s the first guy to get Renzo’s motor revving in a long time. But when he agrees to Canaan’s insane charade—one all-access fake boyfriend, coming right up—he never expects more than a fling.

Creating a hot Italian SEAL boyfriend to save face seemed like a good idea…until his friends called Canaan’s bluff. Now he’s setting off into the woods with the very man who inspired his deception, and Canaan is not the outdoorsy type. The sparks are already flying when a flash flood separates them from their group, leaving Renzo and Canaan very much trapped…very much alone in the wilderness.

Working together to come up with a plan for survival is sexier than either of them expects. But back in the real world, being a couple is bringing its own set of hazards…

This was a fun story that not only involves a very attractive man on deployment but also a video game streamer who has a hard time leaving his apartment. It’s such a unique idea for a couple. I absolutely love reading about couples who met online and this doesn’t disappoint.

Plus, you’ll be treated to a glimpse inside the world of a famous streamer. It’s not a lifestyle I’ve ever given much thought to so it was quite interesting to experience for a couple hours.

View Synopsis

I was counting down the months until the end of my deployment. My days were spent working on military vehicles, and I spent my nights playing video games that would distract me until I could leave Staff Sergeant Garrett Reid behind. That was when I met him: Kai Bannon, a fellow gamer with a famous stream channel. I never expected to become fixated on someone who’d initially been a rival. And I’d never expected someone who oozed charm to notice me—a guy known for his brutal honesty and scowl.

I hadn’t planned for our online friendship to turn into something that kept me up at night—hours of chatting evolving into filthy webcam sessions. But it did. And now I can’t stop thinking about him. In my mind, our real life meeting is perfect. We kiss, we fall into bed, and it’s love at first sight. Except, like most things in my life, it doesn’t go as planned.
