New Years Resolution: Conquer my to-read list

Let’s talk about our most anticipated new releases of 2019.

Have you heard about all the amazing literary new releases that will be gracing the shelves early in 2019? There’s something about reading a new book. I always love the opportunity to read books with a blank slate, not knowing what to expect. It’s refreshing to go into it with no expectations. As much as I try to pretend I can be objective my opinion is certainly swayed when I read reviews regardless of whether they’re positive or negative.

So I decided in the coming months I would plan my reading so I can read and enjoy as many new releases as possible. Just me and the book deciding if we like each other, without worrying about what anyone else thinks. That sounds a bit like a date, doesn’t it?

Planning is one of those things that makes me feel like I’ve got me life together. I don’t, of course. But, I’m always quite happy pretending to be a responsible adult. Pretending being the key word in that sentence. Please don’t mistake me for an actual mature, responsible person. Adulting is hard sometimes!

It seems like everyone has a plan for everything these days. We have life plans, meal plans, exercise plans… I can’t imagine having the time to make all those plans, much less the motivation and discipline to follow them. When would I read?

The one thing I do tend to plan is my reading. I plan it very loosely, but it’s something. If my to-read list it to be believed, I’ll be busy reading for the next 75 or so years. Assuming I don’t have to take breaks for work, family commitments, or sleep, sounds reasonable, right?

Even with a TBR that rivals Santa’s naughty list, I’m still always on the lookout for new books. Which brings me back to the talk about plans we had a couple of seconds ago. Have you forgotten already? No worries. It makes perfect sense.  I mentioned Santa, I’m sure we’re all thinking about Christmas and cookies and all the things we did find ourselves on his naughty list.

My reading is about the only thing I plan. Although that is never set in stone. Right now, I’m trying to find my list of must read books for 2019. This is made up of the books I’ve seen other bloggers talk about, the books that have been popping up on my feeds time and time again.

I’ve scoured the internet, looked high a low on GoodReads and found the 12 books I’m most excited about reading in 2019.

What are you hoping to read in the near year? Tell me what new releases you’re most excited about.
