8 Free Horror Stories Perfect for Halloween
Welcome to the Horror stories edition of Free Friday, my favorite day of the week!
These books were all free when I wrote this post, however prices tend to change without notice. It’s up to you to double-check the price before you one-click anything.
From serial killers to haunted houses, these books are sure to scare even the most seasoned horror aficionado.
I’ll be honest, it’s not often I find myself searching for a book that will have me cuddling the baseball bat I usually keep under my bed. But on occasion it does happen, usually in the fall when I start seeing Halloween decorations and trailers for horror movies.
Besides if I’m being honest there’s something kind of exhilarating about sleeping with the lights on and one eye opened, convinced every gust of the wind is the serial killer coming to get you. Not something I want to endure all the time. but, on occasion it is nice to remind myself what fear feels like.
However, one of my biggest pet peeves with scary media is that I rarely make it to the end. I often decide I’ve had enough half-way through the book or movie and it’s not like I can ask for half my money back. In an attempt to combat that frustration, I’ve stopped going to the theater to see scary movies. And this year I decided to prowl the free section on Amazon to get my book fix.
I’ve found 8 of the most promising FREE horror books. I plan to *try* reading most of these before Halloween, although I’m not sure I’ll get through them so you probably won’t see my review. But I would love to hear your thoughts on them.
Horror books not really your thing? No problem, I have some freebies for you too! Check out this list of free cozy mysteries.

I LOVE a good thriller but I’m not as big on horror. Going to check out your cosy mysteries post.

No horror for me, but I do like a good thriller/suspense tale – as long as there is no gore. I don’t like gruesome images in my head – it strains the only surviving pea left in my brain 😉

Thank you for compiling a list of books I need to keep away from – horror and me don’t mix! I am a big scaredy cat, wimp.
