Why I’ve Created a Reading List for 5 Year Olds
Summer… the time when all the parents in my life drop their little angels off to spend time with Auntie Sawyer. What an adventure the last week has been!
I’ve spent the last week with my 5 year old nephews – twins. We’ve gone to every splash park, playground and pool in the area and I have the sunburn to prove it.
How do do people do it? Don’t get me wrong they’re great kids, but toward the end I was counting down the minutes until I could give them back to their parents and indulge in some of the “adult juice” I deserve as a reward for being such a responsible adult. I kid, mostly.
It’s been a lot of fun! They’ve taught me all about dinosaurs and ghosts. We’ve also learnt that my new kitchen is the perfect layout for making blanket forts. I hope you’re all very jealous, blanket forts are awesome and it’s where I’ll be hiding for the foreseeable future!
But, the best part is that they’ve read my cat and I some very fun books. Which is what I’m putting on my list today. The kids have read each book to me approximately a million times so if the children in your life love them even a fraction as much as these two do, you’ll have made a great choice.
