Around this time last year I wrote a posts of book to movie adaptations being released in 2019 where I admitted that my to be watched list is longer than my to be read list! It might not sound like a big admission to many of you, but for a book blogger it’s a big deal.

I’m here today to share this list of my most anticipated book to movie adaptations of 2020!

One thing I absolutely adore is when books are adapted to the big screen. There is something so special about being able to read a book than seeing it brought to life on the big screen. There’s something so magical about seeing how the characters and the setting are brought to life.

I’m happy to tell you all that there are some incredible books set to grace the silver screen this year.

As always, I have to say the book is likely to be better than the movie. This means you should grab the book before the movie is released.

Notable Book to Screen Adaptations

The movie Fatherhood (release date: April 3, 2020) is based on the novel Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew Logelin. It details the year of his life after the birth of his daughter and death of his wife. I cried so much reading this book, I haven’t even been able to start the review.

*** If you’re brave enough to see this movie in the theater, I would strongly suggest smuggling a box of tissues in your purse! It is an amazingly moving story and you will need them.

P.S. I Still Love You (release February 12, 2020), based off the book by Jenny Han, is the sequel to 2018’s movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. This was such a sweet YA series and the first movie was beautifully done, I hope the second one is the same.

The Woman in the Window (release date: May 15, 2020) is a psychological thriller that seems to have been read and loved by pretty much everyone. I for one can not wait to see this twisty tale come to life on the big screen.

The Turn of the Screw by Henry James is one of the most intense classic horror novels I’ve read. It will be adapted to the big screen as The Turning (release date: January 24, 20202). I wonder if the movie adaptation will be as eerie and uncomfortable as the book.

There are also several incredible book to movie adaptation that are sure to be hits with the younger folks in your life.
