I’m always on the look out for an excuse to stay in and read all day, rainy days are one of my favorites! Obviously, I know I don’t need an excuse and often spend my day reading just because, but sometimes it helps.

What better way to relax than by curling up with a good book and listening to the sound of rain hitting the window? Whether you’re settling in with a mystery, romance or non-fiction title, reading is the perfect way to spend a gloomy rainy day.

My life is truly lacking in opportunities to spend hours upon hours reading. The rare rainy days provide the perfect opportunity to dig into the ridiculously long books I’ve been meaning to get to for a while.

One of my biggest pet peeves is having to put a book down just when things are getting interesting. If I’m reading a really good book, I find myself annoyed by real life commitments like work and socializing.

Rainy days are the perfect opportunity to dedicate the hours required to enjoy the books I’ve wanted to read but haven’t started because of the length. You see, I know these books are going to be incredible. I also know that once I start reading, I won’t be able to put them down.

This book list is full of perfect rainy day reads. Some I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying others are on my list, but I have no doubt they’ll be amazing.

Why are these books perfect for rainy days?

When I have the chance to spend an entire day reading, I don’t want to waste it on a book I could read I can afternoon. Rainy day reads are reserved for the oversized books on my reading bucket list. These book require a level of time and dedication I’m only afforded when the weather is bad.

Each book that made this list is over 500 pages long! A length I would typically pass on simply because I have issues with commitment and 500 + pages is a big commitment.

But, every single book on this list has numerous amazing reviews from reviewers I trust. Hopefully they’ll be worth the time and effort it takes to read them.

Sadly, we don’t have many rainy days where I live, so it might be a while before I have to opportunity to read all the books on this list. However, I have already read about half of them and can absolutely attest to their greatness. I’m looking forward to the days where I can finally read the rest.

Middlesex is the next book on my list. It’s been on my radar for a long time and I am so excited to hopefully read it sometime this summer.
